Hello to members of the Clan Irwin Association. One branch of my maternal family comes from the Erwin family who came to Virginia from Northern Ireland. Joining the CIA is just one more step in my search for history, events, and family.
I live in the Chicagoland area today, but was born in Southern Indiana. Both sides of my family came to the area from south central Kentucky looking for jobs, better farmland, and greater opportunities.
I graduated from Indiana University Southeast with a BA in English looking to write content and share ideas. I later attended technical college and received an Associate degree in Applied Electronics. This allowed me to take a position with Motorola Solutions, Inc. as a field technician working in the cellular and trunked radio divisions. From there, I went on to write documents, online help, and training materials for the fielded engineers and technicians. I spent five years working in other industries as a technical writer and web developer.
After spending over 30 years in the field, I retired from Motorola and took up contract work for all types of content to help improve knowledge, train users, and share information across all user levels. Today, I continue to write, create formats to share information, and learn about the up and coming technologies and strategies in an ever changing world.
I was captivated by genealogy at a young age and continue to find research fascinating and fulfilling. Over 50 years of digging for records, I have a family tree that takes me back to some pretty interesting places in history. My Erwin family journey continues to surprise and delight me. I am looking forward to join the CIA on trips and adventures that add more to my family story.
