Biography of William (Bill) Erwin Editor of the Holly Chronicle
Named after my grandfather William Daniel Erwin, I am a descendant of South Carolina Erwins (documented by Anne Elizabeth Miller in her 1927 book Carolina Pioneers and Their Descendants), although I was born and raised in Glenview, IL. (My grandfather, who passed away before I was born, had migrated to Chicago from Milledgeville, GA.) I obtained BS (Northern Illinois University) and MS (DePaul University) degrees in Physics, with my interest being spawned by my high school physics teacher.
I retired in 2024, after forty-four years as a nuclear medicine physicist, beginning at the nuclear medicine division of Siemens. That was followed by positions at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s and Northwestern Memorial hospitals in Chicago (with a second stint at Siemens in between). I then finished my career after twenty-three years at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center.
I became a member of CIA about twenty years ago, having learned about it from my late uncle Bill, who was CIA Commissioner of Florida at the time (see Flowers of the Forest, HLC 1st quarter 2009). Prior to accepting the position of HLC editor in 2026, my active involvement in CIA consisted of participation in the HLC indexing project in 2023.
I am currently living with my wife of forty-four years in Kingwood, TX, a northeast village of Houston.
